Helping those with HIV using Meditation
Posted by: dev in Latest events on May 29, 2010
On 25th May we delivered a workshop at a charity called Body and Soul who support families and children with HIV (www.bodyandsoulcharity.org).
The first workshop with children aged 6 to 9 was to do with anger management. These children are born with HIV and as they grow they suffer both physically and emotionally. They have to live with a secret which if shared with those at school leads to bullying and discrimination. For young, impressionable kids this can lead to a lot of frustration and anger. We used music and techniques to help them become calm and replace angry thoughts with positive ones.
The second workshop was with 60 adults and was entitled "The Power Meditation Workout". We took the entire group through the following stages:
1) relax
2) rejuvenate
3) renergise
The group enjoyed it so much they have asked us to return and to take them deeper so that they can apply the techniques to their lives. This is the 3rd workshop we have delivered at Body and Soul. It gives us such a sense of satisfaction and contribution with immeasurable worth. We will certainly be returning in the very near future.
Leave your details with us so that we can let you know about an upcoming workshop near you!
